Dispersants
Dispersants for uniform distribution of solid pigments in liquid binders. Prevent flocculation, gloss loss, color shift, separation, sedimentation, and flow problems.
Why do we use dispersing additives?
The use of wetting and dispersing additives is crucial in the production of pigmented coatings. This is due to the need for a uniform distribution of solid pigments within the liquid binder solution. If the pigment grinding process is not optimized, various defects can occur, such as flocculation, reduced gloss, color shift, separation, Benard cells formation, and settling. This can also have an impact on the flow properties of the coating system, leading to issues like sagging and leveling.

Key Benefits
- Uniform Pigment Distribution — ensures pigments are evenly distributed throughout the binder
- Prevention of Flocculation — pigments stay separate, providing consistent color
- Enhanced Gloss — proper dispersion preserves high gloss levels
- No Color Shift — accurate color reproduction
- Prevention of Separation — long-term storage stability
- No Benard Cells — eliminates hexagonal patterns on coating surface
- Improved Flow and Leveling — eliminates sagging and poor leveling
Impact on Coating Performance
Using dispersing additives not only improves the visual and physical properties of coatings but also enhances their durability and longevity. A well-dispersed pigment system contributes to a more stable, vibrant, and defect-free final product, making it essential for industries where high-quality finishes are required.
P – organosoluble systems, B – water-based systems, UV – radiation-curable systems
